Northern canal and river marinas and moorings.
The Marinas, boatyards and moorings on the canals and rivers of Northern England provide a range of moorings and services for narrow boats and wider river craft. Cruising areas include the three scenic cross Pennine routes, to the west there’s the tranquil Lancaster Canal and to the east there’s the River Trent and the broad Yorkshire Navigations and Rivers.
- Marina moorings can cost from about £40 to over £60 per boat foot per year.
- Mooring rates for shorter terms, wide boats and residential moorings will cost more.
- More expensive moorings may offer more facilities, such as showers, washrooms, electricity supply, WiFi, or may be in more popular areas.
- Marinas and boat yards frequently offer boating supplies, maintenance and repair services and boat brokerage. We list available facilities where we have the information.

Moons Bridge Marina, family run and operated, offer secure country moorings and boatyard services on the Lancaster Canal just north of Preston and within a few minutes drive of the M6.

Shire Cruisers historic Sowerby Bridge basin on the Calder & Hebble/Rochdale Canal offers pleasant secure moorings & boatyard services to the same high standards that earned their hire fleet's excellent reputation.
