Canal boat & marine cleaning services
We list marine and canal cleaning services. This covers exterior cleaning, usually for canal boat hulls, and interior valeting.
We list fuel cleaning and polishing services separately.
- Canal boat hull cleaning involves blasting the canal boat’s hull with high pressure water or abrasive materials such as sand or shot to remove the dirt, old protective coverings and rust from the boat’s hull. The hull is then ready for a new coating of protective paint. The cleaning must be carried out when the boat is out of the water, either in a dry dock or on a boatyard hard standing.
- Blast cleaning can also be used to clean off old paintwork from cabin sides prior to the boat undergoing a full repaint. Usually this will be done inside a paint dock so that bare metal can be protected from the elements.
- Canal boat valeting involves interior, and sometimes exterior, cleaning, it has become increasingly popular before a boat is put up for sale. Techniques vary from simple cleaning and polishing to restoration of finishes and furnishings to make the boat look its best. A number of companies provide specialised boat cleaning products.
