Canal boat heating, water, sanitation systems

Modern canal boats are expected to have fresh water and hot water systems, the hot water heated by bottled LPG (liquified petroleum gas), diesel oil or sometimes waste heat from the engine itself. Central heating is also usually fuelled by LPG or diesel oil with radiators through the boats. Many boats use solid fuel stoves for their main cabin heating. Cookers are usually LPG or diesel fuelled. Sanitation systems vary from simple cassette toilets to systems with holding tanks, some using vacuum or macerators to transfer the waste. Some boats even have composting toilets.
