Day Hire self drive canal boats
Self drive day hire canal boats are a great way to get some fresh air with friends or family and to sample what a longer canal holiday would be like. Lots of people get hooked this way! They are available from boatyards up and down the canals and rivers and usually must be booked in advance.
Day hire boats can usually be booked for self drive canal trips for a day, part of a day or evening. You don't need any boating experience or
qualifications to take one out. They usually have toilet and simple cooking facilities (many people take picnics) but no sleeping accommodation.
Most day hire canal boats have outside seating and room inside for passengers if it rains! Day hire narrowboats usually take between 6 and a
maximum of 12 passengers. Hirers will suggest suitable routes for your hire time.
