It remains the most comprehensive coverage of the system in England, Wales, and Scotland, providing information on distances, lock numbers, and restricting dimensions for each waterway. The map’s straightforward cartography distinguishes between rivers, broad and narrow canals, and the major road network using a generalised relief.
