Guide To Cambridge Narrowboats

We had a wonderful couple of days on New Moon as a family of 4. We were a bit nervous having never driven a narrowboat before but Gary’s training was very clear-he was so patient! He also talked me through our first lock on the phone. The boat was cozy and very comfy with everything we needed on board. Our journey was beautiful. Thank you so much for everything!

We had a New Year cruise in early January 2023. New Moon was the perfect narrow boat for us, two adults and a small Dachshund. The boat was really cosy with just the little log burner fired up, giving plenty of heat with not a lot of fuel needed. The toilet/shower was amazing given the limited space, but then the rest of the boat was equally brilliant as well.

The area around Cambridge and Ely was just beautiful and lovely to spend time in. It’s a very relaxing, no rushing experience which provided plenty of opportunities for wildlife spotting, even at that time of year.

Gary and Nicola were amazingly helpful – we had a puncture a mile from the marina before arrival. Whilst we were away enjoying ourselves they took the worry of tyre replacement away by getting the tyre changed for us. That’s just so much more than the customer service you’d expect, and we really appreciated it.

Despite our novice narrow boat status Gary took time to talk us through the necessary briefing and training and was always on the end of the phone for any questions. We’re definitely looking to go back again and would recommend Gary and Nicola without hesitation as their customer service ethos is exceptional.
