Just called in for a quick drink after having a lovely walk up by the river. Haven’t been in here for ages. They have done it out lovely. Will definitely be going back when we are next in Upton.

Great location, haven’t tried the food just came for a drink. Unfortunately on both occasions we have visited, staff just don’t seem interested in serving you. The first time we left after standing at the bar for 15+ minutes, to add insult there was a member of staff about, but I guess they felt we wasn’t important enough to serve so we left without.
Visited again today and got the same vibe, no sense of urgency or service despite there not being a queue!

Had the absolute displeasure of visiting here a few weeks ago. Ordered the fish finger butty and a ploughman’s, it took over an hour to arrive, and only after we complained.
They explained they had, had a run on the kitchen, and there was only one cook. When I explained to the bar member we hadn’t been warned, there would be a wait when we ordered.
The younger bar staff member responded by being pretty rude, and somehow thought the late food wasn’t an issue and I’d just have to wait, much to the horror of the older staff member who told told her ‘no, don’t say that ssshhh’.
The point is, as tried to explain, had they warned us we wouldn’t of ordered and been forced to stick around for so long hungry and fed up.
Only when told them I was leaving and wanted my money back, they both disappeared to the kitchen for another 15minutes and reappeared with the most pitiful ploughman’s I’ve ever seen. I felt they threw our meals together to prevent us from getting refund, and forced us to endure there awful customer service. They also told me only management could arrange a refund, the following day. I didn’t follow up as the money wasn’t the issue, the rudeness, disorganisation and bad food was though. Honestly if just managed this place I would be explaining customer service to my employees.

Herd for family wedding nr and a lovely place to stop .
With our 86-year-old Mum in law .
Perfect place, just a few stairs for her to use
Wonderful friendly staff, very staff and very helpful. Rooms are lovely, clean and modern, all en suite.
We only had breakfast, but wow ,we all chose full English, which includes fried bread, black pud ,hash brown, and cereal before if you wish .
Only thing to watch out for is there’s no carpark but a few spaces on road outside.
Townvis lovely with a few quirky shops and lots of pubs and restaurants to try.
Thankyou to all the staff.
Well worth a visit and we’ll be back for a weekend. ❤️❤️
