Tamworth Castle , a magnificent testament to England's rich history, stands proudly in Staffordshire as a beacon of medieval architecture and Civil War intrigue.

During the tumultuous 17th century, this formidable fortress played a pivotal role in the English Civil War, changing hands between Royalist and Parliamentarian forces. Although Norman in origin, the majority of this castle dates from the reign of Henry VIII.

Fabulous little place to visit

The castle and museum are a must

The grounds are lovely to explore with the added bonus of a great bug kids park for the little ones to enjoy

There’s a little cafe/shop on site which is unbelievably cheap considering it’s location

All in all a nice little spot to spend the day

Great morning exploring the castle with the wife and kids.

Found parking nearby at Holloway car park. This is a short-stay car park (£3 for 4 hours) you can add extra time when needed.

Adult- £11.95 Children- £9.50 (up to age 15)

Found all staff whilst exploring the castle to be polite and friendly. The few we asked questions too, were able to answer everything.

The gold horde was interesting to see. Incredible attention to detail was clearly used when creating these works of art.

There is a small gift shop and café, again with friendly staff.

The toilets were clean and clearly maintained to a high standard.

Would recommend a visit, a great way to spend a few hours.

Absolutely lovely castle and grounds, plenty to see and do, especially for children, lovely big play area and a cracking little cafe where they serve everything, hot and cold food.

Plenty to see, but doesn’t take long to see it all. Seems pricey for what you get to see. Some areas were blocked to the public and would improve the experience. A nice place to visit if they knocked £1.50 off the price, but I would still recommend it.

Loved games (giant snakes and ladders) and the activities on the interactive board.

Dressing up as a Saxon or a Knight was really fun as the costumes looked like real ones and in very good condition.

The story of the sword film was really interesting and a great introduction to the rest of the exhibition.

As we visited during Xmas time, the temporary xmas Carols displays were well thought. We stayed more than two hours.

Saxon period was definitely the best one with kids. Would be great if the rest of the castle was as educative to learn about other historic periods.
