Your canal boat could give you a holiday in a two bedroom apartment in Andalucia, a motor home in New Zealand, a beach house in Australia or a houseboat on Lake Powell in Arizona (below)! All possible with our boat and house holiday exchange.
Sharing your pride and joy with people you don’t know may sound a bit scary, but the principle of house exchange is long established and usually works well, with both sides responding to the mutual trust of allowing another family the privilege of using their home. We’ve had house/boat Holiday Exchange listings in Canal Junction for over ten years and many boaters regularly exchange for their holidays.
For example we’ve currently got a listing for a small farm (no work required!) in South Western Australia which includes use of nearby coastal holiday house (right) in the wilderness of a National Park and which is only accessible by boat down the Donnelly River (5 miles). Or there’s a ‘beautiful beach house’ in Queensland Australia on the southern tip of Great Barrier Reef, a 350m walk to a 5km long safe swimming beach.
If you’d prefer New Zealand you have a choice of 2 motorhomes, or a four bedroom house in Aukland (with vehicle) or on the South Island, a house in Wainui, a small settlement about an hour from Christchurch, a 3 bedroom home on the Kapity Coast, with use of car, close to the beautiful Waikanae beach and Estuary Reserve, just 1 hour north of Wellington or a house in Nelson, ‘the sunshine capital of New Zealand’ (left).
If you’d rather stay in the northern hemisphere there’s an eight bedroom house in Idyllwild California (right), a small town 6,000 feet high in a pine forest. (You can’t take pets though, mountain lions and coyotes would eat them!) Then there’s that 66′ Stardust houseboat on Lake Powell (top)in Page, Arizona.
A bit closer to home there’s a house on the Greek Island of Paros, or then there’s that 2 bedroom apartment in the centre of sunny Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, only 15 minutes from fabulous beaches, or a six bed apartment on the Costa Blanca. Or maybe a house in London or a sixty foot wide beam barge in Dublin would suit you better? Get exchanging!!
