It\u00a0was built by Ernie Thomas [Ernest Thomas (Walsall) Ltd] in 1953 for the Birchills Power Station coal traffic and is one of only a few surviving wooden Joey boats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canaljunction.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2012\/10\/birchills11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-541\" title=\"birchills1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.canaljunction.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2012\/10\/birchills11.jpg\" alt=\"BCN joey boat Birchills\" width=\"400\" height=\"268\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.canaljunction.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2012\/10\/birchills11.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.canaljunction.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2012\/10\/birchills11-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><em>Birchills <\/em>\u2013 then in good condition \u2013 was one of the first boats donated to BCLM which owns 16 boats.\u00a0 Eight are floating and priority status for major funding has been given to this wooden Joey boat as the most important and most vulnerable in the collection. The ex.
