Locomotive ‘Buck’ 1837 at swing bridge over the Town Dock to the Swansea Canal framed

Liverpool built loco originally bought by the Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal Navigation & Railway Company.

Framed & glazed A4 signed limited print of a gouache painted reconstruction of an 1830s locomotive at the Pottery Swing Bridge over the Town Dock north entrance in the 1850s. This Swansea Vale Railway Branch led to the Swansea Canal, the new looped canal branch alongside the ‘Town Float’ (later called the Swansea North Dock) can be seen encircling calamine (zinc) kilns in the background.  The dock movable bridges were cast at the Millbrook Ironworks and transported along the Swansea Canal to the new dock. Original artwork by Stephen Hughes .
