Guide To Tattershall Castle
Tattershall Castle1 mile north-east of Tattershall Bridge. Originally a small motte-and-bailey not used so much for military defence but rather as a centre for revenue collection from the surrounding farmland. Rebuilt in brick and limestone as a grand keep for the Lord Treasurer of England, Ralph, Baron Cromwell, in the 15th century, it had four storeys as well as a basement.

We liked, because it’s not squish with lot of people’s, very nice and peacefully can spend time , big , interesting rooms with few furnitures. History from the basement till top of the castle , there is lovely view all around the castle 🏰. Enough places in the car park and clean toilets .

Went on a Sunday. Lots of parking.
The description on the website and Word of mouth didn’t give us a particularly good impression. However the whole family thought it was absolutely fantastic ! The castle, church and surrounding area are beautiful.
The spiral staircase maybe a bit much for some but when you get to the top it has exceptional views and is very rewarding.
Definitely on our ‘go again’ list.

Visited here after staying nearby. The castle is impressive. Although there isn’t a lot to do once you’re there, apart from admiring the views from the battlements.
The church next to the castle is just as interesting and is free.

Really brought to life by the volunteer ‘peasant Will’ who was rich in information about the tower and its part in various stages of history.
The castle is otherwise fairly bare as they tend to be, had some simple games and nice dresses to play dress up in some of the side rooms.
Sadly the weather let us down and we couldn’t see much from the roof
Car park is free as is the picnic area in front of the church.
Snack station just had some sandwiches and crisps etc
Dogs were allowed in the grounds, but not allowed in the castle itself

Nice NT place to visit. Castle and church buildings are interesting and in pretty mint shape. Views from castle are spectacular even if I didn’t come on the best of days – the views have immeasurable potential as you can see as far as 18/20 miles on a good day; Lincoln cathedral/ castle and an RAF radar system for example.
One of the castle entrances has a disabled ramp which can be quite slippy and hazardous when wet so watch out!
Defo bring binoculars for the castle tower – u will not be disappointed!!
