Standedge Tunnel & Visitor Centre Directions
By Boat: If you want to explore from the water, you can find moorings at both the Marsden and Diggle ends of the tunnel. For more information on booking your passage through the tunnel, check out the boating through Standedge page.
By Car: If you’re driving to the visitor centre, you can park for free at Marsden Station (post code: HD7 6DH). It’s just a brief, easy stroll away and perfect for anyone with a pushchair. Additionally, there is disabled parking available at the visitor centre itself.
By Train: The Centre is only a 15-minute walk away from Marsden Station, and you can enjoy a lovely stroll along the well-preserved Huddersfield Narrow Canal towpath to get there.
By Bus: To reach the visitor centre, take the 184 Oldham – Huddersfield bus route and get off at Marsden village. Follow the canal towpath from there.
By Boat Shuttle: The Huddersfield Canal Society runs a shuttle service with 12 seats, which operates between Marsden Railway Station and the Standedge Tunnel & Visitor Centre. This service is run by volunteers and is available every day during local school half terms and holidays, as well as every weekend from Easter to the end of October.
